74 years old , living in Northampton and married to Sheila, a former actress. He says, “My main interests in retirement are history and music. As an aspirant clarinettist I spend a lot of time rehearsing for and playing with a couple of jazz bands and in each of them I am the youngest member.
“The books I write are historical novels involving murder and mystery in the English Civil War. My hero is trooper Ketch who works for Cromwell’s Spy master John Thurloe whilst solving murders and gradually being promoted. I try to base each book in and around the town of Northampton which is just as much rich in history as Shrewsbury is for ‘Brother Cadfael’!”
